Trifolao
(pronounced tree-phoo-làu) is a dialectical word that means
“truffle picker”. Become a trifolao for a day on this excursion
into the northern Italian countryside where you will have the
unique and unforgettable experience of walking side
by side with a real-life trifolao and his dog
(an integral part of the truffle-hunting experience)
through the woods outside Alba.
Learn the art of truffle picking straight from Giorgio, a
seasoned Italian trifolao, who will explain the local traditions
as well as the truffle varieties and characteristics.
Walking through the natural truffle grounds, you’ll
pick your own truffles, and end the day with a
truffle tasting with top local wines.
March-September is summer black truffle season,
September–December is the season of the coveted
white truffle, and January-March is the time to pick
the winter black truffle.
