DESIGN MIAMI

While at Art Basel Miami Beach, we had the opportunity to catch up with top Miami architect and man-about-town Chad Oppenheim. Here he gives Area his favorite places in his hometown, where of course good design and architecture reign supreme.

Hotel: While in Miami, bed down at The Setai, that forty floor tower of aquamarine glass right on the beach, home to some of the more excessive hotel suites in Miami. (2009 Collins Ave; www.setai.com)

Restaurant: Table 8 – Designed by Thomas Schoos, chef Govind Armstrong’s food ranks right up there with the design. (1458 Ocean Drive; www.table8la.com)

Store: Luminaire – Like good design, this contemporary furnishings store in the Design District is constantly evolving and re-defining itself. With designers like Le Corbusier, Poul Kjaerholm, Marcel Wanders, Yves Behar and company, it’s hard not to find something to lust after. (4040 NE 2nd Ave; www.luminaire.com)

Bar: Grab a drink upstairs at Casa Tua, the sleek Italian restaurant cum hotel set in a refurbished 1925 Mediterranean-style house. (1700 James Ave; www.casatualifestyle.com)

Lounge: Florida Room in the Delano Hotel, designed by Lenny Kravitz’s interior design film. (1685 Collins Ave; www.delano-hotel.com)
