Next time you’re in South Beach, stop by the newly opened Uhma Spa & Shop, Miami’s first totally green spa. From the paint on the walls to the ingredients in the Invigorating Caipirinha Peppermint Body Polish, everything about this new spa/retail shop makes Earth Day everyday.

The interior design, a collaboration between Brazilian architect Roberto Pedreira and French designer Maxime Dautresme (designer of Grass Restaurant & Lounge in Miami’s Design District), utilizes Biophilic principles, where elements from nature are taken indoors to create a relaxing, non-toxic, eco-friendly environment.

Everything in the space takes the planet into consideration, from the low-flow faucets, to the shop’s organic bath & body products, to the body wraps, polishes and massages. Signature massages include the Sabai Herbal Ball massage, which incorporates a warm herbal ball that compresses to the body’s energy points; and the Tian Di Bamboo, which uses warm bamboo sticks to apply deep pressure and heat.
