A smart, up-to-the-minute warehouse space in Shoreditch, the Rivington Grill has a run-of-the-mill name but an anything but common dining experience.
The groovy leather-sofa'ed bar offers terrific cocktails and a fun place to chill and meet friends. But it's the main restaurant that we love - the whitewashed walls are a perfect backdrop for artwork dotting the walls by local artists, including Tracey Emin.
The menu, on the other hand, is anything but modern. “Divine domestic cooking” is what they call it, from herring roe with capers to deviled kidneys on toast to steamed smoked haddock with poached egg; or if that’s not up your alley, there’s a good old fashioned steak. The table next to us had a steaming, delicious-looking whole pig (think apple in its mouth). The wine list suits many wallets and the ambience is sophisticated and relaxed.
