Searching for affordable 20th century designs for your home or office? Or just want to catch the latest in modern design? The Los Angeles Modernism Show, now in its fifth year, is a rare opportunity to view and purchase the most sought-after, vintage 20th century art, modern furniture, and decorative objects (c. 1900 to 2000) celebrating the design of the entire 20th century.
This year's show promises to be extra special. Along with 90 dealers exhibiting their prime finds, including American furniture design icon Charles Hollis Jones, famed for his award-winning "Edison Lamp" now exhibited at the Norton Simon Museum, the theme "Design in Motion" incorporates a surprising array of kinetic sculpture, mechanical furniture and the evolution of planes, trains and ocean liners, and renowned sculptor Stan Bitters' entrance spectacle (to be revealed on opening night) should be a crowd stopper.
The Opening Night Gala (May 2) at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium will benefit The Decorative Arts and Design Council of LACMA.
