MORE IS MORE

Further evidence that minimalism is dead, the Dylan in Dublin, a new luxury hotel in a former Victorian-era nurses’ boardinghouse that can be best described as boudoir chic.

Rooms are a wild mix of Frette linens, Etro toiletries, Bang & Olufsen phones, Bose iPod docking stations and Philips LCD televisions, all mixed in with sexy lime green and blood red sofas, Murano glass chandeliers, and leather studded walls.

Pop down for the obligatory cocktail at the Dylan Bar, popular among in-the-know Dubliners for its decadent decor and killer cocktails, where bankers and brokers pop bottles of Krug champagne and sip the bar’s signature cocktail - a mix of vanilla vodka, Galliano, dark crème de cacao, crème de banana topped with pineapple and grapefruit juice and fresh cream.

The restaurant, Still, is as white and glossy as the rest of the Dylan is rich and velvety, and Padraic Hayden’s modern-Irish menu has Dubliners lining up out the door.

And our favorite treat: an in-room massage for the morning after to ease your Guinness hangover.
