CÓRDOBA, ARGENTINA
WINGING IT

For all you sporty types, here’s a trip into the heartland of Argentina to experience one of the country’s favorite past times – dove shooting. And take it from us, this is something that has to be experienced rather than explained.

In Argentina, dove are considered to be the foulest of creatures and passionately hunted for sport. And the undisputed capital of the sport is Córdoba, a central province annually inhabited by over 40 million dove.

If you really want to experience dove shooting at its finest, the best place to do it is at Pica Zuro, the most exclusive dove shooting lodge in Córdoba. Located at the foot of the Sierra Chicas, this elegantly restored 19th century house accommodates up to 16 guests in 10 bedroom suites. A working Argentine estancia, the house also grows crops and raises cattle.

A typical day starts early with a hearty breakfast and short drive to the nearby hills where you’ll be assigned a pick-up boy and guide. After testing your skill all morning, you’ll be treated to a traditional asados (barbeque), tasting some of Argentina’s famed beef and wines. Then shooting continues until dusk when you head back to the lodge for cocktails and dinner.

And if shooting isn’t for you, there’s shopping and tours to the historic city of Córdoba.
