Ever since 1997, Berlin has designated one night the Long Night of Museums – a night of culture where museums and cultural institutions stay open until the wee hours. This year the 10th anniversary of the event is this weekend - Saturday Aug 25. From the modern art, photography and architecture at Berlinische Galerie to the Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin to the newly re-opened Bode Museum – 110 museums (don’t worry, it includes all the biggies including Pergamon), collections, archives and cultural institutions take part, keeping their doors open until 2am.
To help you get around, shuttle-buses serve all the venues (City Hall is the hub for all of them, so you can’t get too lost). Insomniacs under the age of 12 go free, otherwise tickets cost €15 (or €12 if booked in advance) and include admission to all the museums and bus rides. There are also readings, concerts, and performances to keep the evening rolling along.
