Couldn’t make Coachella? If you love live music, hop a flight to Austin, Texas, “the Live Music Capital of the World,” for the sixth annual Austin City Lights Music Festival (Sep 14-16).
The three-day music extravaganza in Zilker Park brings together more than 130 bands on eight stages, including rock, country, folk, hip-hop, reggae, bluegrass and just about any other genre you can name. This year, Bob Dylan, Bjork, The Killers, The White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys and Arcade Fire hit the stage.
Single-day and three-day passes are sold online; and if you want a little creature comforts in your festival experience, VIP tickets come in packages of two ($1,700) and four ($3,400) and give you some bang for your buck with an open bar, free gourmet chef tastings, air-conditioned bathrooms, and a shady VIP grove to snooze away the afternoon.
