Music and art collide at Sympathy for the Devil: Art and Rock and Roll Since 1967, opening Sep 29 at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Chicago. The show looks at the dynamic relationship between the visual arts and rock-and-roll, from Andy Warhol’s involvement with The Velvet Underground to more recent artists such as Slater Bradley, Raymond Pettibon, and Mike Kelley who have created album covers and music videos for rock bands.
Adding to the show, playlists from artists and musicians will be available on iPod nanos that museum-goers can listen to while wandering the halls. So you can listen to your pop culture while looking at your high culture – or vice versa, depending how you look at it.
