Join Area at Cosa Gallery in Notting Hill on Wednesday November 28 from 6:30-8:30pm for a private viewing of new paintings & drawings by Georgia Peskett.

During a visit to New York in early 2007 Georgia Peskett filled several sketchbooks and took hundreds of photographs of the streets and skylines of America’s most iconic city.

The urban environment and the occasional passer-by inhabit Georgia’s new fresh and confidently executed paintings which go beyond a simple photographic realism to show a deep understanding of the manipulation of paint.

The infamous yellow New York cab features in several paintings, passing in front of walls splashed in graffiti by street artists such as Elbowtoe, Faile, D*Face and Banksy.

On her return to London Georgia revisits the familiar territory of East London, in particular Smithfield meat market.

If you can’t make the opening, the exhibition runs Nov 29 – Dec 15.
