YEAR OF THE RAT

From Rem Koolhaas’s China Central Television headquarters to Wong Kar-Wai’s films to Norman Foster’s Beijing airport, China is experiencing a major design explosion.

China Design Now, an exhibition at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum (March 15 – July 13), captures this moment of extraordinary originality as China opens up to global influences and emerges as a creative force to be reckoned with.

The exhibition looks at developments in three rapidly expanding cities - Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen – and displays the work of Chinese and international designers, focused on architecture, fashion, youth culture and graphics, as well as film, photography, product and furniture design and digital media.
