Picnic nirvana. The Boston Symphony Orchestra decamps to the Berkshires for the summer and through the end of the summer you’ll find outdoor concerts, jazz festivals, wine tastings, and picnics at Tanglewood (for the 2008 schedule click here). There’s no better place to spread out a blanket, uncork a bottle of wine, and listen to live music under the stars.
While in town sleep at Porches. Once a dilapidated mill workers house it’s now a quirky, contemporary boutique hotel. We love the retro lamps and swank bathrooms in the large, homey rooms. Ask for a picnic lunch, and they'll give it to you in a cute little factory worker's lunch box.
And when you’re sick of the music take in some modern art at MASS MoCA, hit the nearby hills for a hike or detox at Canyon Ranch.
