HOLIDAY HO DOWN

The temperature is dropping and the days are getting shorter, but that’s no excuse for hibernating this winter. As always, Area’s got you covered with ideas for getting out and about, from food and wine fiestas to art exhibitions, music festivals, and more.

One of the best ways to celebrate the season is the Annual Christmas Stroll Weekend in Nantucket (Dec 5-7) - part of the month-long Nantucket Noel (Nov 28 - Dec 31). Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive to the island via the Coast Guard and ride up Main Street in a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by the Town Crier. Carolers in Victorian costumes, bell ringers, student choirs, and other musicians perform on the Main Street stage and while strolling throughout town. Sure, it’s a bit kitschy – but it’s the perfect way to rev up for the holidays– not to mention, Nantucket is charming in winter!

While in town, sleep at The White Elephant or the Jared Coffin House - both offer special Stroll rates.
