ON TAP

Dying for a tall, cold brewski? Bartenders and fancy drinkers, take heed. The age of froufrou is nearing its end and beer is getting back on the throne. And the place to honor the barley and hops - Philly Beer Week (March 6-15), the biggest beer event in the US, with a lineup of over 50 of the biggest brewers from around the world and more than 400 events.

No other city hosts as many breweries or events in just 10 days. Breweries traveling to the City of Brotherly Love include Urthel, Fuller’s, The Lost Abbey, Allagash, Brooklyn Brewery, Avery Brewing, Founder’s, Rock Art, Boaks, Breckenridge, High & Mighty, Ommegang, Voodoo, Smuttynose, and St. Somewhere, to name a few.

While in town, sleep at Morris House Hotel, a historic B&B, or the Sofitel in Philadelphia’s up-and-coming French Quarter, in the old stock exchange building, a modern-era high-rise tower that’s a modernist exception in a traditionally Georgian and Federal city. Although typically not a fan of luxury hotel chains, we love the Sofitel for its terrific location just off Walnut Street, close to Rittenhouse Square and convenient to much of the city’s best shopping, dining, culture and nightlife.

Thirsty? Better drink up.
