Happy Earth Day! Disney is launching its Earth film today. Sure, it’s cool to see all that wildlife on the screen, but what about the real experience? Here’s an expedition that will open your eyes to the wonderful diversity of life on Earth.

While the polar bear’s survival status remains precarious as global warming shrinks the Arctic predator’s feeding season, hundreds of the endangered bears still gather each year on the shores of Hudson Bay awaiting the formation of sea ice so they can head out to hunt seal—creating a best-in-the-world opportunity for viewing the bears in their wild habitat.

This October/November eco-tour provider Natural Habitat Adventures is sending a small group of carbon-neutral travelers into the bears’ midst via Tundra Buggy, with local guides and a World Wildlife Fund partnership making for a particularly up-close and authentic look at complex issues facing the bears and their fragile ecosystem.

The sustainable snowbound safaris include the chance to see some 50-100 polar bears a day, as well as arctic fox, caribou, the northern lights and more. For more details, please visit www.nathab.com/north. All trips arrive and depart from Winnipeg, Canada.
