After taking in the plentiful restaurants in Philadelphia, here are our favorite things to see and do:
Put on Your Walking Shoes: Philadelphia is a walkable city with lots of diversity. Stroll through Chinatown, artsy and edgy Northern Liberties, the Old City, and from Washington Square to Rittenhouse Square along Walnut.
Art's Calling: Check out the local art. Thomas Brummett's Animalis is at Schmidt Dean Gallery (across the street from the Sofitel Hotel in Rittenhouse Square area) from Oct 23 - Nov 21. The 4th installment of his exploration of the natural world, this time the photographer turns to the animal kingdom for inspiration. Don't miss the opening reception on Oct 23 from 5:30-7:30pm.
Also stop by Gallery 339 for contemporary photography, The Print Center for works on paper, and Locks Gallery on Washington Square near the Liberty Bell. Also don't miss the Barnes Foundation, a historical gem that's a mecca for post-Impressionist painting, before the collection moves downtown.
Shop for Antiques: Pine Street or "Antique Row" is a great place to browse for antiques. Afterward grab a drink at Rouge or Parc in Rittenhouse Square. The view of the square from the oval bar at Rouge can't be beat.
Increase Your Heart Rate: Walk or bike along Kelly Drive (and Boathouse Row). A pretty jaunt along the river that starts at the Museum of Art.
Go Italian: Check out the Italian Market. Gritty, but unbelievable. After winding your way through fresh cheese chops, butcher shops, and true Italian bakeries, have a cappuccino at Philadelphia's version of Dean & Deluca, Di Bruno Brothers.
Learn Why the Constitution Actually Matters: Take the tour at the Constitution Center. It's actually worth it.
