AREA GOES TO TORONTO

This week we head north to Toronto to check out the eclectic mix of culture, cuisine, design, and decadence in one of Canada's most thriving cities.

First up, our picks for the best night's sleep:

Hip and trendy, the Drake Hotel on Queen Street West is a historical landmark turned urban retreat. Their "crashpad" rooms are 150 sq ft. of "charm" and perfect for just that... an overnight crash. The Underground, the hotel's live music venue, never disappoints and the rooftop patio bar (open year round) serves hot spiked ciders in the winter months and refreshing cocktails in the summer.

One of the newest kids in town is the Hazelton, a luxury boutique hotel in Yorkville. Its sexy design and "beautiful people" vibe creates a daily dose of eye candy. Along with a spa and health club, private screening room, and indoor pool, you'll be in the pulse of the hip downtown area.

In the heart of the entertainment district lies the Hotel le Germain. Modern, sleek and comfortable sums up this dog-friendly hotel that will make sure your best friend is well looked after. Victor Restaurant serves up a social dining experience with family-style portions.

The Soho Metropolitan Hotel in the Theater District is boutique, design and luxury all rolled into one. The "Soho Met" as its called by insiders also houses one of Toronto's most sophisticated Chinese restaurants, Lai Wah Heen.
