CRAZY ADVENTURE TRAVEL

Ready to unleash your offbeat sense of adventure? These unlikely trip ideas should stoke your inner Evil Knievel. Go ahead, we triple-dog-dare you.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side: If sky diving and bungee jumping are old hat, try diving with great white sharks. African Shark Eco Charters will take you cage diving, cage snorkeling and on natural predation trips in False Bay, South Africa.

Shoot it Up: A great way to de-stress? Take it out on a helpless inanimate object in the lush Scottish Highlands at House of Mulben. Tweedy owner Innes Macpherson (and his black lab, Finn) teaches the fine arts of shooting clay pigeons, off-roading, and archery.

Ride with the Wind: Soar over the Rockies like a bird. Aspen Paragliding offers courses and tandem flights in Aspen and Snowmass. No soaring experience necessary.

End of the Earth: This year is one of the last times that Antarctica will be easily accessible to travelers. Book a trip with White Desert, a luxury eco-camp, where you'll visit the Emperor Penguin colony of Ekstroem Shelf Ice (seen in March of the Penguins), then fly across the mighty peaks of one of the least explored regions of the continent to a high-tech tent camp where you'll ice climb, ski or kite-ski through miles of pure snow. The cold-blooded can even spend the night in an igloo.

Final Frontier: And if you really want to do something different and spending $200,000 or so is no object, reserve a seat on a Virgin Galactic space flight. Test flights are scheduled to begin in 2010, while full-fledged trips are set to launch in 2011.
