SPA VEGAS

It's spa time as Area wraps up a week in Sin City. Area informant Jenifer Wohl Jonson shows you how and where to pamper yourself.

Everyone can get beaten down in Las Vegas, but few can return from a sojourn there more refreshed and relaxed than when they left. If this is the Vegas you are looking for there are a plethora of spa options.

Which spa is for you? Read on and find out.

Vdara Health & Beauty is sophisticated and smart. Want to have your rings cleaned while you get your nails done? They can do that. Need a bit of bubbly with your gals while you get your locks lightened? The champagne bar is on-site and at your disposal. An hour and a half may seem excessive for a facial, but isn't that what this town is all about? And relaxing in the eucalyptus steam room is a sure way to get ready for whatever you've got on tap, or to recover when you're tapped out.

The Spa at Aria is much larger than the one at Vdara but no less appealing. The "hike" through CityCenter can get you oriented and surprisingly provides a real work out. Be sure to check out the Thai poultice massage. Your masseuse will give you the poultice, which you can use to your hearts delight for the next 24 hours. The Spa features the only Japanese stone sauna "ganbanyoku" beds in the US.

The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental is hushed and grown-up like the hotel itself. The options on offer are pricey but if you find yourself hitting the jackpot, this is a great place to spend your winnings.

Lose track of time (and gravity) in the Canyon Ranch SpaClub wave room at the Palazzo or cool off at the Artic Ice Room at Qua Spa & Baths at Caesars Palace. The only one of its kind in the US, the Ice Room is a blue pebble and mosaic tile-encrusted cold room where "snow" gently descends from a domed ceiling through mint-infused air chilled to 55 degrees.

Relaxing not your thing? Try a lap of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in an Aston Martin with Exotics Racing or splurge on a Papillon helicopter tour and champagne lunch at the Grand Canyon.
